ATHLETIC TRAINER . FITNESS PROFESSIONAL . RUNNER . DUATHLETE
MY MISSION IS TO EMPOWER OTHERS TO SEEK THE GREATER CHALLENGE AND LIVE A LIFE EXPERIENCED AND FULFILLED THROUGH SHARING MY PASSION IN MOVEMENT, RUNNING, AND ALL THINGS THAT IGNITE THE MIND AND BODY
RUNNER AND DUATHLETE BY DAY, ATHLETIC TRAINER BY NIGHT. THIS IS MY STORY
I graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2013 with a Bachelor's degree in athletic training. I am currently the Head Athletic Trainer for a high school in Hollywood, FL and am pursuing a Master's degree in Kinesiology with a double concentration in sports performance and orthopedic rehabilitation at A.T. Still University. I am also a certified personal trainer through the National Academy for Sports Medicine (NASM) and a member of the USA National Duathlon Team.

Fun fact: I am a blackbelt in Nisei Goju Ryu Karate

I ran my first 5k in February of 2019 and have participated in a handful of short-distance road races since. My experiences in each race alongside the camaraderie of participants and local organizations have contributed to the passionate pursuit of seeking challenges that are greater than myself. Although running is an individual sport, running offers entirely different opportunities for people of all ages, sizes, genders, and skill level to come together and work towards achieving a desired goal- be it to run a certain distance, finish within a certain time, or to raise money or awareness for a given cause.

My journey in multisport and duathlon began when I purchased my first road bike in July of 2019. Honestly, it was a spur of the moment decision and I had no initial intention of racing at a competitive level. I had actually raced my very first sprint triathlon in July 2009 at the Mack Cycle Triathlon Trilogy Series. I was 18 years old with no objective goal other than to finish. I raced the third rendition of the Trilogy Series in August 2009 and that was the last time I can recall having ridden a bike since my first ride on my 2019 Specialized Allez.

I raced my first sprint duathlon in October 2019 (run-bike-run) at the Mack Cycle Series and finished in 1:05. Before I knew it, I had registered to race in my biggest physical (and soon to be mental) challenge yet: The Miami Man Half Iron Duathlon - a 2 mi run, 56 mi bike, and 13.1 mi run throughout South Miami. I qualified for Team USA and the duathlon World Championships.

In February 2020, I completed my first full marathon in 3:59.

As good as it all sounds, my life wasn't always so sweet.

From 2015-2018, I was overweight (possibly obese for my 5'4" frame) and tipped the scale at nearly 170 lbs. I was a night crawler - a nightly bar crawler. I was unaware of how terrible my health had gotten until I took a single glance at a photograph that was taken of me while on a vacation to Turks and Caicos. From that moment on, I knew something had to change before my life would continue to spiral down at the rate it did.
During my first gym session in Feb of 2016, I couldn't run a mile.
I ran my first mile without stopping in April of 2016, but that wasn't to say I hadn't struggled through it.

Fast-forward to 2020, I have completed numerous 5k races, a half-iron distance duathlon, and a full marathon.
